The Newport Daily News reports a bent rim on Eric Hites’ bike has kept him in Tiverton since late last week, ninety miles from where his ride began in Falmouth, Massachusetts.
Newport Bicycle is equipping Hites with a fresh bike that can withstand his weight.
In 2 weeks on the road, the 40-year-old states that he’s lost 60 pounds so far!
Hites says he has always been a heavy person. He hopes to lose a few hundred pounds and gather material for a 2nd book.
He previously authored a humorous cookbook titled “Everybody Loves Ramen,” which includes 50 recipes he acquired while he was in college.
I wish I could do something like this because I definitely could use the weight loss but unfortunately I cannot afford a bike that can hold me and secondly the time off of work. I do wish him well and he does inspire me to try something on my own. Maybe if I get enough AdSense money off this site I can buy myself a three-wheeled bike and ride around Phoenix.
