Took my kids to the Phoenix Zoo today and even let them get their picture taken with the Easter Bunny. We purchased the “professional photo but I snapped this one from almost 50 feet away before I found out no personnel pictures were allowed. Oops! Oh, Well.
Many animals were out and about today including the Fennec Fox which is in the video below. This stands out as a rare site in my opinion because in my 2 dozen or so visits to the Phoenix Zoo in the last 2 years this is the first time we’ve seen the Fennec Fox out in the daylight hours.
What I find as being a little funny however is the fact that out of all the exotic animals we saw today my children said they liked the peacock best. I think it may have had something to do with the fact that it was the only animal not in a cage and it followed us around the zoo for awhile. It was a nice example of a male peacock and even put it’s feathers on display for us as you can see in the photograph.
The strangest thing we viewed today wasn’t an animal! It actually was a book in the Phoenix Zoo gift shop that caught my eye as we were leaving called The Gas We Pass: The Story of Farts By Shinta Cho. It had me laughing for obvious reasons…
Anyway all in all I would say it was a good trip and I can’t wait for the opportunity to do it again and who knows maybe next time I’ll purchase the fart book. Just kidding I know I won’t but I may try to locate that peacock again to see if we can have another encounter with it showing off it’s feathers again. They are rather beautiful.
Happy Easter Everyone!
