I’ve been doing a lot of research on the subject of the effects of natural events (solar eclipse, earthquakes, typhoons, and even changes in seasons) and their effects on those of us who have a mental illness. I narrowed it down though because I was really having a hard time finding any credible information so I looked specifically into mood disorders.
If you don’t know what he mood disorder is it is a psychological disorder which is characterized by raising and lowering a person’s mood. The most common ones are major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder (mania – euphoric, hyperactive, over inflated ego, unrealistic optimism), persistent depressive disorder (long lasting low grade depression), cyclothymia (a mild form of bipolar disorder), and SAD (seasonal affective disorder).
I realize not very much research has gone into this. In fact, anything posted online has been antidotal at best. I made a video albeit a little silly to try to get people to answer the question about natures effects on your mental health. I would appreciate if people could let me know here on my blog or on that YouTube video what their opinion of the role natural events play on our mental health.
