It’s almost November and you know what that means time for turkey and of course those slimy political ads. You know what I’m talking about the ads like “This candidate buys his dog nonage-appropriate dog food do you want a candidate who hates puppies?”
I hate these things! They prey on the fact that most of the voting populace is completely uneducated towards the facts about candidates and issues and trust the nonsense they hear on TV or radio when it talks about an issue they may slightly care about. The public needs to understand that when it comes to politics it’s easy to lie in more than one way often times quoting an opponent out of context to make them look bad when it comes to perception of the uneducated voter.
I do understand that deception is part of everyday life which is why I approach most things with a ‘caveat emptor’ attitude — ‘Let the buyer beware’ — notion” but the scary thing is people like me are in the public minority. Perhaps American voters should have to attend debates or at least be forced to read the pros and cons of an issue before they are able to vote.
Lack of education isn’t an excuse for not knowing the candidates or issues because if you’re going to take the time to do your civic duty and vote then you should take the time to make sure you completely understand what you are voting for are not going for. Please educate yourself prior to voting this November so that we will be able to actually have people of action in office as opposed to tricksters who use any means necessary to obtain public office.
