My childhood professional wrestling hero Virgil Riley Runnels Jr., better known as “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes passed away today at the age of 69. While most of the matches, I was able to see if his as a kid were on TV replays where they showed great wrestlers of all I always felt a connection to the man. He was strong, passionate and so damn over he was able to get the fans behind him even in a god damn polka dotted outfit. Some people truly won’t know how much of an impact he had on modern Pro-Wrestling and how so many of the characters and stories we love were from this special man. Wrestling will never be the same without him.
My heart goes out to his friends and family and especially his two sons Cody and Dustin who continue on in his footsteps entertaining the masses in the world of professional wrestling.
RIP Dusty Rhodes, the Son of a Plumber, and the American Dream you most definitely will be missed.
